Designing Apartments in Israel. War Stories.
Wednesday, January 16th, 2008We all heard about real estate price dropping in northern Israel during the second Lebanon war, last summer. Areas like the Galil and Haifa were then hit by hundreds of missiles shot from over the northern Israeli border.
How do you cope with that kind of environment dealing with RealEstate? How can yuo keep selling apartments. In the wonderful city of Haifa, people prove to overcome these problems. This apartment in Haifa was designed with a special concept in mind. As from the gulf war all israeli houses and buildings are required to have a special emergency room built of armed concrete, which serves as a bomb shelter in case the alarm indicating of missiles goes off.
So this Apartment in the picture is built around that shelter cube, making it the center of the house accessible at all times. How does it feel to live with a constant reminder of war in the middle of your living room? It seems like the Israeli people are used to being bullied and threatened, and are used to dusting off the fear while looking at Haifa’s bay wonderful beaches.
